Online Blackjack for Money

Real Money BlackjackOne of the best things about the internet is that we can now play Blackjack for real money from home. No longer do we have to travel for hours, by car or plane, to play in a casino.

We can use all that money to gamble with instead.

But if you’ve never played online before, it can all be confusing at first. There are 100’s of casinos to choose from, and they’re all unique when it comes to games, rules and promos.

Our goal with this page is to clear things up. We want to explain what you should expect playing online, and how it might be different from playing in your local B&M casino.

The Differences Between Online Casinos

There are 100’s of casinos online, and all offer real money blackjack.

So, that begs the question, what makes each casino different? Why choose one over the other?

Blackjack Variations

Each casino uses a different software provider. Every provider chooses to create and provide different games.

Here are some of the variations you might come across:

  • Blackjack
  • Super 21
  • Face Up 21
  • Pontoon
  • Match Play 21
  • Perfect Pairs
  • European Blackjack
  • Live Blackjack
  • 1-6+ Deck Blackjack
  • Vegas Downtown
  • Vegas Strip
  • Premier High Streak
  • Bonus Blackjack
  • Atlantic City
  • Multi-Hand
  • 21 Burn
  • American Blackjack
  • Pirate 21
  • Super 7
  • Blackjack Mini

Many software provides create unique variations too. One that comes to mind is Zappit Blackjack, created by Betsoft.

Other than variations, you’ll notice that number of Blackjack games will vary as well. Some casinos will offer 1, while others might have 7, 15 or more than 20.

It just depends.

Promotions

Every casino will offer deals. But the type of deals, amounts and terms will vary.

For example, one casino might offer a 100% bonus up to $1,000 for Blackjack players only, while another casino will offer a 200% match up to $5,000.

And one casino might ask Blackjack players to wager 60x the deposit plus bonus, while another might require 120x.

This is a big deal; you don’t want to overlook it. You can end up with a bonus that has bad terms, that prevents you from cashing out until you complete it. That could mean wagering tens, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Note: We cover wagering terms in our reviews. Be sure to read them.

Mobile

Not every casino will offer mobile Blackjack games. And not all mobile casinos are compatible with lesser popular devices from BlackBerry and Windows. Game variations will change from one casino to the next, too.

Game Rules

Another difference between casinos are the rules. For example, at one casino the dealer might hit on soft 16, while at another they stand. One casino might pay 3:2 for a Blackjack, while another pays the crappier 6:5.

Do you see what I mean? This is why it’s important to read reviews first before you sign up. It can impact the games you can play, bonuses and how much money you can win playing.

Counting Cards: Not Possible Online

One thing Blackjack players cannot do online is count cards.

The reason is simple; it’s the software. One problem is that there’s no way to keep track of deck penetration. At most sites you don’t get to see the deck, nor do you see it change as the cards are dealt.

But, the biggest reason why is because many software providers created these games with infinite loops. In other words, they don’t run out of cards. So even if you could see the deck, there’s no way you could get an accurate count.

Now, there is an exception. If you play real money live dealer Blackjack, it is possible to count cards. However, many online casinos have terms that state that, if caught, your winnings will be void and they will close your account.

Is it worth it? That’s up to you. But given how few legit casinos there are, my thoughts would be no.

What You Need to Know About Blackjack Bonuses & Promotions

The last thing I want to talk about are casino bonuses. Bonuses are one of the reasons why playing online trumps B&M casinos. The casinos are willing to give you thousands of dollars to sign up and make a deposit — something you were going to do anyway.

Here’s an example of a bonus; the casino will match your first deposit 100% up to $500. Every $1 you deposit, the casino will give you $1 extra to play with.

Sounds good, right? But before you get too excited, realize that there are terms. The casino requires that you wager ‘x’ number of dollars before you can make a withdrawal.

For example, they might say that you need to wager 25x your deposit plus bonus. If you took full advantage of the bonus, you’d have $1,000. At 25x, you’d have to wager $25,000.

But that’s not all. Since Blackjack has such a low house edge, the casinos ask BJ players to wager more, usually 4x more. So instead of $25,000, you’d have to wager $100,000.

All that for a $500 bonus? Yup.

The reason why we point that out is so that you don’t jump at the biggest, baddest, bonus you come across. You need to make sure the terms are reasonable, and actually something you can complete.

Otherwise you’ll fail and lose your bonus money and winnings, or never be able to cash out. Either way, it won’t be a good experience. So make sure you read our casino reviews before playing for real money, just to make sure that doesn’t happen to you.
