Golden Nugget Online Poker
Update 9/30/2015: The Golden Nugget free play poker room closed on September 30, 2015. Golden Nugget once planned to operate a real money poker site in New Jersey. Betfair would have been its partner. The play money site was a way to build players for it.
That plan never worked out. Golden Nugget was late launching its gaming sites in New Jersey and eventually abandoned its poker plan. It still operates an online casino in New Jersey. The online poker site closure also did not affect its brick and mortar rooms.
The Golden Nugget play money room uses Amaya Gaming software that is licensed by Bally Technologies. Players that wish to play on the Golden Nugget free play online poker room must first download the latest version of Adobe Air. Players may choose one of four languages when installing the software; English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
The Golden Nugget has five locations. The most well known property is located on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas. Other resorts are located in Biloxi, Lake Charles, LA, Atlantic City and Laughlin, Nevada.
Golden Nugget has launched its New Jersey online casino site. It has yet to offer online poker.
- Large player traffic
- Above average quality of games
- Social, recreational player focused
- Third largest U.S. facing poker room with growing traffic.
- Excellent and consistent payment processing.
- Relatively juicy games.
Once a player is seated at the table they are presented with several options. These include posting the big blind immediately, waiting for the big blind and sitting out when the blind approaches. Players may also choose to sit out and withdraw from all tournaments. There is also the option to muck all losing and uncalled hands. Four colored decks are offered too, including advanced deck options not available at other rooms. These options were taken from experienced European players that already play for real money every day on this software.
There are only three available games offered by Golden Nugget. These games are No Limit Texas Hold’em, Fixed Limit Texas Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha. Players may sort the lobby by game type, limit, number of seats and speed of the tables.
Licenses Approved – No Real Money Online Poker Yet
Golden Nugget partnered with Bally Technologies to offer play money online poker. Both companies received their Nevada interactive gaming license in 2012 and the site went live shortly after the approval. There is no estimated date as to when Golden Nugget will go live for real money play in Nevada. It has launched online casino games in New Jersey but has yet to include real money online poker in its offerings. It appears that Golden Nugget has no interest in launching an online poker site in New Jersey.
