Sky Poker Summary

Sky Poker is a partner of Sky TV, a British media company. Sky TV offers poker programming where they market Sky Poker. This makes the game quality at Sky Poker terrific. It also helps that Sky Poker does not allow affiliates to offer rakeback deals. This would attract grinders that destroy game quality. Loyal players do receive rakeback through Sky Poker’s VIP program.

Play at Sky Poker on a java platform. This makes is possible to play on any operating system as there is no download required. There is also a mobile app for iPads and iPhones.

Sky Poker only accepts players from the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Ireland, Finland and Gibraltar. All games are in the British Pounds currency.

A Personal Opinion of Sky Poker

What We do not like about Sky Poker

The player pool is very small at Sky Poker. The highest limit spread is £1/£2 so this means there are no high limit games. The software is below average and does not offer many features due to its simple java platform.

Sky Poker Game Selection

Sky Poker offers four games. Texas Hold’em is available in no limit and pot limit structures. All active games are no limit. There is also Pot Limit Omaha and Omaha High/Low. Sky Poker does not bother to spread fixed limit games, even though it as an option in the lobby filter. All games offered are six-max. Full ring tables do not exist at Sky Poker except at the micro limits and nobody plays them.

Sky Poker Texas Hold’em and Omaha Games

No Limit Texas Hold’em limits start at £.02/£.04. There are small gaps between the limits. For example, there is £.04/£.08 and £.05/£.10. The next jump is £.10/£.20 to £.15/£.30. Most sites do not offer these small steps while moving up limits. This is helpful for players just starting to build a bankroll. The highest available limit is £1/£2.

There are special tables that can be featured on Sky TV poker programming. These are stickied at the top of the lobby.

There are usually a couple of Pot Limit Omaha games running with blinds of £.25/£.50 or lower. Pot Limit Omaha High/Low is tough to find, even during peak hours.

Sky Poker Tournaments

There is decent sit and go action at buyins of £2 or less. The selection becomes scarce over £5. Most sit and gos are double or nothing. This means that half of the field gets paid double the buyin, while the other half receives nothing. Most of the sit and go action is No Limit Texas Hold’em. There are a few Pot Limit Omaha and Omaha High/Low sit and gos that pop up throughout the day. Some sit and gos are TV tables. These are clearly marked in the lobby.

Multi table tournaments start every five or ten minutes. Many do not carry guaranteed prize pools. All multi table tournaments are No Limit Hold’em. The tournaments that carry guarantees are not very large. The major Sunday event has a £20,000 guarantee. The buyin to most tournaments is less than £5.
