Mandalay Bay Cash Games

The only regular game at the Mandalay Bay poker room is $1/$2 No Limit Texas Hold’em.  The buyin range is $100 to $300.  There is a $2/$5 No Limit Texas Hold’em game on the busiest of weekends.  It offers buyins of $200 to $2,000.

Mandalay Bay Poker Tournaments

Mandalay Bay offers three daily No Limit Texas Hold’em tournaments.  The 10am tournament is $30+$10.  Players start with 4,000 chips and levels are 20 minutes.  The 3pm and 10pm tournaments are $45+$20. The juice is a ridiculous 44% for this event.  Players start with 10,000 chips and levels are 15 minutes.  Reentries are allowed for the first 30 minutes in all tournaments.

Mandalay Bay offers private one or two table tournaments.  The juice is $15 per seat, regardless of buyin.  This is a good deal for players willing to play $100 or higher in these sit and gos.  Players start with 5,000 chips and levels are 15 minutes, regardless of the buyin.

Mandalay Bay Poker Promotions

Players that make a hand of four of a kind or better will win a tiered bonus.  A player that flops a hand of this rank or higher wins $300.  The payout goes down to $200 on the turn and $100 on the river.  Four of a kind requires a pocket pair.  Straight and royal flushes must play both hole cards.  The bonus is paid even if a straight flush is later counterfeited, as long as the player can use two hole cards to make any straight flush.

Only the highest payout is made.  The house rakes an additional $1 jackpot drop in cash games to cover this bonus.

Cash game players earn $1 in an hour in comps when clocked in with the MLife card.  These comps may be spent on food, hotel, and entertainment anywhere in the system of MGM Resorts properties.

Environment

Mandalay Bay offers a great environment for poker.  The poker room is located in a high traffic area.  Its close proximity to the sports book and escalators from Luxor also helps it to draw action from passersby.  All tables are equipped with automatic shuffle machines.  The Bravo Poker system is used to clock in players and display available games and waitlists.

Food Options

The Sports Book Grill is adjacent to the poker room.  Players can also pick up pizza at Slice of Vegas.  All other restaurants are full service.

Mandalay Bay Poker Room Opinion

What We do not like about Mandalay Bay

The poker room at Mandalay Bay has several things going against it.  The biggest problem is its terrible location on the Las Vegas Strip.  It attracts more local players than tourists unless a big convention is in town.  This is not always a problem, however, Mandalay Bay attracts tight locals that do not give much action.

MGM Resorts implementing paid parking also hurts traffic here and other poker rooms under the company umbrella.
