Absolute Poker and UltimateBet Claim Deadline Extended

The deadline for filing a claim on funds lost to the Absolute Poker and UltimateBet scam was extended to September 7, 2017.  The original date was June 9, 2017.  No explanation was given as to why the date was pushed back 90 days.  It is likely that this will also extend the payments 90 days later than originally planned. Players may file a claim on funds lost at Absolute Poker and UltimateBet at Absolutepokerclaims.com.

Garden City Group is the claims administrator for victims of the Absolute Poker and UltimateBet scam. It is the same company that paid back Full Tilt Poker players that had money on the site when it imploded.

Scott Tom Pleads Guilty to Single Misdemeanor

Absolute Poker co-founder Scott Tom pleaded guilty to a single misdemeanor charge, according to a court filing made public this week.  This misdemeanor will cover all Black Friday crimes Scott Tom is accused of committing.   Tom’s sentencing will be handed down in September.

Tom was implicated as the main cheater at Absolute Poker when insiders used rogue software to view the hole cards of opponents. The Black Friday charges do not include any accusations related to that scandal.

Pala Poker Launches in New Jersey

Pala Poker became the fourth online poker site in New Jersey this week.  It hopes to bring new players into the game as well as compete with WSOP.com, Borgata and WSOP.com.  Pala Poker is owned by Pala Interactive, a division of the Pala Casino in California.

Pala Poker’s CEO is former UltimateBet CEO Jim Ryan.  Its Chief Technical Officer is Uri Kozai, former software developer for UltimateBet. This relation with the scam UltimateBet site has some players and regulators concerned.  The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement released a memo to answer some questions related to the situation. Pala Casino launched in 2014.
